Laura Sabin was born
on February 15, 1816 in Halifax, Windham County, Vermont. She
is one of seven children born to Nehemiah Sabin and Zilpha
Putnam. On May 7, 1839 in Halifax,
Vermont Laura married Hiram Gore.
Laura and Hiram were the parents of Sarah C.. Laura appears on
the census in 1850 in Chatham, Medina County, Ohio. Laura died
on July 11 in Ohio, the year is not known at this time. Her tombstone
in Chatham Cemetery, Medina County, Ohio is only partially legible
and lists that she died in 18?? at age ??years, 7 months.
Nehemiah Sabin was
born on December 31, 1781 in Buckland, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
He is one of six children born to Ebenezer Sabin and unknown
first name Lyon. Nehemiah married Zilpha Putnam
on February 19, 1807 in Buckland, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
Nehemiah and Zilpah were the parents of Dencey, Zilpha, David,
Louisa/Lovina, Laura, William Putnam and Harriet O.. Nehemiah
died on July 22, 1856 in Buckland, Franklin County, Massachusetts.
Ebenezer
Sabin was born on July 1, 1746 in
Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut. He was the son of Nehemiah
Sabin and Ruth Cooper. About
1768 Ebenezer married unknown first name Lyon. Ebenezer
and Miss Lyon were the parents of Ebenezer, Elisha, Elizabeth,
Nehemiah, Dorcas and Polly. Ebenezer married second Kiah
unknown last name, the widow Granger on April 2, 1799 in
Halifax, Windham County, Vermont. On November 24, 1817 Ebenezer
married third, Prudence Martin, in Colrain, Franklin County,
Massachusetts.
Unknown Lyon died before April
2, 1799 in Halifax, Windham County, Vermont.
Nehemiah
Sabin was born on September 9, 1713 in Medfield, Norfolk County,
Massachusetts. He is the son of Nehemiah Sabin and Elizabeth
Boyden. On December 30, 1735 in
Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut Nehemiah married Ruth
Cooper. Nehemiah and Ruth were the
parents of Ebenezer. Nehemiah died on July 5, 1746 in Pomfret,
Windham County, Connecticut.
Nehemiah Sabin was
born on January 30, 1680/81 in Roxbury, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
Nehemiah was the eldest son of Benjamin Sabin and Sarah
Parker. Nehemiah married Elizabeth
Boyden on May 8, 1702 in Medfield,
Norfolk County, Massachusetts. Nehemiah and Elizabeth were the
parents of Neheniah. Nehemiah died on July 4, 1746 in Pomfret,
Windham County, Connecticut.
Benjamin Sabin
was born on July 3, 1646 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
He is one of a dozen children born to William Sabin and
Mary Wright. About 1668 Benjamin
married Sarah Polley in Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts.
Benjamin and his first wife Sarah were the parents of Josiah,
Ebenezer, Benjamin and Mehitable. In 1675 Benjamin and family
moved to Roxbury, Massachusetts. Benjamin was married to Sarah
Parker on September 5, 1678 in Roxbury,
Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Benjamin and Sarah were the parents
of Sarah, Nehemiah, Patience, Jeremiah, Experience, Stephen and
Timothy. Sometime before 1691 Benjamin and family moved to Pomfret,
Windham County, Connecticut were he was appointed Deacon in that
year. In 1714 he was appointed to be Selectman. Benjamin was the
first representative sent to the General Assembly by Pomfret in
1719. Benjamin died on July 21, 1725 in Pomfret, Windham County,
Connecticut.
William Sabin was
born on October 11, 1609 in Titchfield, Hampshire, England and
was baptized in St. Peter's Parish. He was the son of Richard
Sabin and Mary Bushe. William married Mary Wright
about 1639 in England. William and Mary were the parents of Samuel,
Elizabeth, Joseph, Benjamin, Nehemiah, Experience, Mary, Abigail,
Hannah, Patience, Jeremiah and Sarah. Before 1642 William and
family immigrated to Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts and
in 1643 he owned an estate there worth 53 pounds. Along with his
father-in-law, Richard Wright, he was appointed to collect
taxes in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts on May 28, 1645.
In 1656 William was a Constable for Rehoboth, Bristol County,
Massachusetts. He and Stephen Paine served as deputies
to the Plymouth Court in 1657, 1659 -1660. On December 22, 1663
in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts William married second,
Martha Allen. William and Martha were the parents of James,
John, Hezekiah, Noah, Mehitable, Mary, Sarah and Margaret. After
Williams death Martha would marry Richard Bowen on January
20, 1689/90. William was a miller in Rehoboth and on March 28,
1676 his mill was burned by Indians. The burning of his mill was
retaliation for William's service as foreman of a jury that found
three Indians guilty of murdering John Sassamon. The hanging
of these Indians on June 8,1675 was one of the causes of
King Philips War. On June 26, 1676, William was taxed 15 pounds,
5 shillings and 9 pence to help defray the cost of King Phillip's
War. William sold the land where his mill once stood to Philip
Walker and Richard Arnold on June 13, 1677, said land
covered the area bounded by the bridge commonly called the Mill
Bridge to the stream known as the Falls in Rehoboth, Bristol County,
Massachusetts.
William signed a will on June 4, 1685 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
Bee itt known unto all men That I, William
Sabinn, of the Town of Rehoboth, in the Government of New Plymouth
in New England, Being through the Goodness and sparing mercy of
God in good health and competency of understanding, yett not knowing
how soon or how suddaine God may in his all wise providence put
a period to my natural life having for the glory of God and the
good of wife and children and the peaceable settling of estate
God of his goodness has betrusted me with all, hath made this
my last will and testament this fourteenth day of June in the
yeare of our Lord One Thousand Six Hundred Eighty Five. Desiring
and chargeing my Deare Children after my decease to keep with
God and observe his holy commandments performing all those Christian
duties that God in his wholly word requires of them setting up
and upholding God's worshipp both in family and in Publique Imprimus
I doe resigne my soul into the hands of the Lord Jesus my Dear
Redeemer and my body to be decently buried. Item - itt is my will
that my Lawful Debts shall be discharged. Item - I give and bequeath
unto my Deare and beloved wife my Dwelling house and halfe of
the Barne and the half of my home Lott and Orchard; and a piece
of Salt Meadow adjoyning to Capt. Hunts; and my fresh meadow called
Wrights Meadow; and my pasture in mantoms neck and six acres of
land in the Second Division adjoyning to Mr. Smiths and four acres
in the greats playne where itt is sodded and free use and Improvement
of Herbage and Commonage; all said lands houses and orchards during
her widowhood (if she marry not during her natural life; likewise
I bequeath to my Dear wife four cows two oxen, a mare and twenty
ewes and all my swine; and all my household goods and all the
cloath woll flax and corne within Doors or Barne or upon the ground.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my sonn Samuel, the one halfe
of an Eleaven acres of Land in the Second Division, laying between
Samuel Perry and Nathaniel Pero's land and John Titus', to him,
his heirs or assignes forever. Item - I give and bequeath unto
my sonn Joseph an acre of meadow att Palmer's River, lying under
the hill over the brooke against the long spang, att the southern
end, and ten acres of that Division that is now Surveying, to
him, his heirs and assignes forever. Item - I give and bequeath
unto my sonn Benjamine, the other half of the Eleaven acres of
land in the Second Division which I gave to my sonn Samuel, to
my sonn Benjamin his heirs and assignes forever. Item - I give
to my sonn James the other half of my homme lotte and orchard
and Barne and the rest of my land in the Second Division, and
grate Playne that is not before desposed. And two acres of salt
marsh and part of fresh meadow in the forke of Palmer's River,
to him, his heirs or assignes forever. Likewise I give him a yoake
of Oxen and a Mare. Item - I give to my sonn John the Mill Lotte
wch is twelve acres, and my neck lotte and two acres to him, his
heirs forever. Item - I give to my sonn Hezekiah, twenty acres
att Palmer's River, and two acres of Salt Marsh and a piece of
meadow called the Hole att Palmer's River, and twenty acres of
the Division that is now laying out to him, his heirs and assignes
forever. Item - I give to my sonn Noah my lott of land upon Ragged
playne, and all my meadow and pond att Mr. Brown's pond and two
acres of salt marsh to him his heirs and assignes forever. Item
- It is my will that my foure sonnes James, John, Hezekiah and
Noah shall have my Commonage to be equally divided betwixt them
(excepting the use and improvement I have given in my will. Item
- I give unto my three daughters Experience, Abigail and Hannah
three pounds apiece to be paid by Nathaniel Allen that is due
by bill. Item - I give unto my grand-child Samuel Allen six pounds
of a debt due me from Nathaniel Allen as appears by bill. Item
- I give unto my daughters Elizabeth and Patience, each of them
a cow to be paid within a year after my decease. Item - I give
my foure youngest daughters, Mehitable, Mary, Sarah and Margarett,
five pounds apiece at their marriage out of the rest of my estate.
I give my wife two books and to have her choise; and the rest
I give to my children the eldest to chuse one first and soe all
of them successively and then to begin againe until they have
chosen them all. Item - Itt is my will if my wife mary that shee
shall then resigne up the house barne and lands to my sonne James
whome I do by this my will enjoyne him and his heirs to pay his
mother five pounds a yeare during her naturall life if she require
itt and it is my will that my son James shall the said lands and
houses if my wife marry not at her decease. Item - Itt is my will
that my beloved wife shall be executrix and my son James executor
of this my will and I appoint my sonns Samuel and Benjamin to
be Overseers to my will.

in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. His estate was probated
on July 5, 1687 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
Richard
Sabin married Mary Bushe on October 29, 1608 in Titchfield,
Hampshire, England. Richard and Mary were the parents of William.
Richard was buried on June 1, 1641 in St. Peter's Parish, Titchfield,
Hampshire England.
Mary Bushe was buried on
October 14, 1644 in St. Peter's Parish, Titchfield, Hampshire
England.
