Jemima Staples
was born about 1715. She was one of eight children born to Samuel
Staple and Hannah Lincoln.
On October 7, 1732 Jemima married Edward Bishop. Jemima
married James Streeter on August
8, 1734 at the Newman Congregational Church in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
Jemima and James were the parents of Mary, Esther, Jonathan, Jemina,
James, Amos, David, Rachel and John. In Rhode Island on December
1, 1764 Jemima married Samuel Tingley. Lastly Jemima married
John Robinson on February 20, 1768.
Samuel
Staple was born about 1670. He is the son of Samuel Staple
and Mary Boles. Samuel married Hannah Lincoln
on February 9, 1693 in Taunton, Massachusetts. Samuel and Hannah
were the parents of Samuel, Robert, Thomas, Nathan, Hannah, Nathaniel,
Jemima and Susannah. Samuel was a Husbandman and raised cattle.
He died on February 19, 1743 in Smithfield, Providence County,
Rhode Island.
Samuel Staple was born about
1623 in Chard Parish, Somerset County, England. In 1644 Samuel
married Mary Cole. Samuel married Mary Boles on
August 30, 1652 in Braintree, Massachusetts. Samuel and Mary were
the parents of Mary, Rachel, Sarah and Samuel. In 1662 he agreed
to transport passengers and livestock between Taunton, Massachusetts
and Block Island, Rhode Island. He was admitted a Freeman in Rhode
Island in 1664. Samuel died before August 1, 1674 when his widow
remarried.
Mary Boles married second
on August 1, 1674 Walter Hatch. Mary died before May 6,
1650 when her widower remarried.
Jefferey Staple was
born between 1590 and 1600 in Chard Parish, Somerset County, England.
Although his parentage is unknown it is known that he had a brother
named John. Jefferey married Johan Atkins on January 29,
1618. Jefferey and Johan were the parents of John, William, Samuel
and William. He was a farmer in Chard Parish during the 1620's.
Johan and most of his children died before the end of 1630. Jefferey
then married Margery unknown last name and they were the
parents of Martha. Jefferey, his brother John and their wives
and his surviving son Samuel emigrated to New England between
January 1636 and the spring of 1637 settling in Weymouth, Massachusetts
by the summer of 1638. The family aligned themselves with the
Puritan Movement. Jefferey died in March 1647 in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
Johan Atkins died on March
3, 1630 in Chard Parish, Somerset County, England.
