Maternal Paternal Line

Abigail Wells was the daughter of Joshua Wells and Mary Brewster. On May 28, 1747 in Southold, Long Island, New York Abigail married Simeon Benjamin. Abigail and Simeon were the parents of Joshua, David, Hannah and Paul.


Joshua Wells was born about 1691 in Southold, Long Island, New York. He was the son of Joshua Wells and Hannah Tuthill. Joshua married Mary Brewster in 1715. Joshua and Mary were the parents of Abigail, Joshua, Timothy, John, Mary Jane, Sarah, Deborah, Deliverance, Hannah, David and Delury. Joshua died on April 9, 1761 at the age of 70.
Bethia Wells was born about 1653. She was one of three of my direct ancestors born to William Wells and Mary Youngs. Between 1672 and 1674 Bethia married Jonathan Horton in Southold, Long Island, New York. Bethia and Jonathan were the parents of Abigail, Caleb, Caleb, Bethia, Barnabas, William, Mehitable, Jonathan, Mary, Patience and James. Bethia died on April 14, 1733.

Hester Wells was born about 1658. She was one of ten children born to William Wells and Mary Youngs. About 1673 Hester married Mordecai Homan and they were the parents of John, Mordecai and Hester. Hester died after 1698.
Joshua Wells was born in 1664. He is the youngest son born to William Wells and Mary Youngs. Joshua married Hannah Tuthill on January 19, 1686 and they were the parents of Joshua. Joshua died in 1744.
William Wells was born in January 1608 in Norwich, Norfolk County, England. He sailed for America on June 10, 1635 settling in Lynn, Massachusetts. In 1653, he served as Deputy to the General Court, at New Haven, representing Southold, which then was under the jurisdiction of New Haven Colony. William was married in 1653 to Bridget Elizabeth Burton, the widow of Henry Tuthill. In 1654 William married Mary
Youngs. William and Mary were the parents of Bethia, Hester, Patience, William, Mary, Deborah, Joshua, Mehitable, Ann and Deliverance. Three of the children being my direct ancestors. In 1657 he was again elected Deputy, and in 1661, appointed an Assistant Magistrate. The next year, 1662, he was active in opposition to the union of New Haven Colony with Connecticut Colony, as the Government at Hartford was called, and refused to be a Freeman of Connecticut Colony. In 1664, Southold, with other Long Island Towns (which, from 1662, had been considered part of Connecticut Colony), passed to the Government of New York, then established by the English conquest of the Dutch New Netherland. Governor Nicoll appointed William Wells to be Sheriff of Eastern Long Island. The next year, 1665, he represented Southold, in the New York Colonial Assembly, at Hempstead, Long Island. William died on November 13, 1671 in Southold, Suffolk County, New York.
William Wells was born in 1566 in Norwich, Norfolk County, England. William was married to Elizabeth unknown last name. William and Elizabeth were the parents of William. William was a Dean at Norwich Cathedral in England. William died on May 26, 1620 in Norwich, Norfolk County, England.

Elizabeth unknown last name was born about 1580 in England. Elizabeth died after 1620 in England.
